And in honor of such, I wanted to write a post; but I’m aware that as a cis female, the general reaction might be to shut the fuck up—I’ve got the easy road.
But, in recognition of this post by my dear friend, sometimes platonic fiancee, and fellow blogger occaisonallyundulyformal (formerly, thespiders), I thought I’d share some of my thoughts anyway.
I’ll put it under a Read More so you aren’t bombarded by feels (or loathing).
Living on the Fringe
Religious beliefs and cultural standards of morality make homosexuality an unacceptable abomination in Bangladesh. The kote, as gays are called locally, are ostracized and thus live together in small communities. Yet social stigma is not enough to dent their unshakeable faith in life.

She’s brilliant.
“being lesbian is being a straight person. it’s having brown hair, it’s having green eyes.” this video is fucking beautiful.
This is beautiful. SO amazing. Please take the 5 minutes out of your day and watch it.
Very articulate. Do as thespiders says, and take the time to watch this.

The standard of God is crystal clear;
“Thou shalt not viscerally hate those
who hold God as the voice for gladness.”
God hates evil.

But for all my followers, and for future reference, you know my stand on the purple issue—that it shouldn’t be one. I’m wearing it today, because people shouldn’t have to feel like there is only one way out. Especially if it is about something as natural as sexual preference.
You shouldn’t be conditioned to feel ashamed if you are gay; and you shouldn’t be embarrassed to be mistaken for gay, or called gay. Because it’s not an insult.
I’m not saying you should wear purple simply because Tumblr is doing it, and people on Facebook are tellling you to do it, and colleges across the country (yes, mine) are taking part. I’m saying this should be a simple decision.
And if you think it’s stupid to wear a specific color, wear whatever you want. Just wear it with love for the people around you, particularly for the ones that don’t know they have that love.
It’s Tumblr Tuesday again; so I recommend that you recommend godlovespoetry. Let’s get them spread out as far as possible.
Every recommendation of godlovespoetry is a slap in the face at Westboro Baptist!
[Personally, I put them in the ART category]
