This scene in the film had me in tears.

My friends who’ve read the book tell me that the riot scene in District 11 wasn’t in it. Some didn’t like the film’s addition of the scene, but I thought it was very emotionally effective. Seeing the people’s response was powerful.

You should definitely read the book. But I think the movie did a very good job of conveying the emotion from it. The addition of District 11’s reaction was incredibly well done and effective. I loved it.
